On a brisk, sunny morning in November, every Christ’s Hospital School pupil assembled outside for band and marching practice. The band played classical music, marching tunes, and finished with a resounding rendition of ‘Uptown Funk’.
Over 100 young musicians make up the famous Christ’s Hospital school band which gathers six days a week with its oboes, piccolos, tubas, drums and much more to march all 900 pupils into lunch, through the school’s vast quad, this is a unique and spectacular tradition at Christ’s Hospital.
The school band always takes part in the Lord Mayor’s Parade in London, held this year on 9th November.
Christ’s Hospital School is a station partner at both Christ’s Hospital station and at Horsham station, where artwork created by the pupils and neighbouring schools is on display on the stairwells and in the Bridge Art Gallery.
