The emergency services crews, as well as train crew, quick-acting Landport residents and local councillors worked tirelessly in extreme heat to look after passengers. This incident, whilst shocking, really could have been so much worse, had it not been for the coordination across local authorities, emergency services and local volunteers. My thoughts are with those caught up in the derailment, especially those who have sustained injuries and their families. I hope everyone is soon well. My overwhelming gratitude goes to everyone who helped, from the most complex on-site rescue and evacuation, to the all the little human kindnesses that I saw repeated over and over again on the day. Many, many thank yous.
