It is always exciting to see projects come to fruition, especially when they have been delayed for various reasons. At Chilworth Station, we have installed some new vinyls in the waiting shelter on Platform 2. They replace some old ones which had become damaged. The new ones are created from artwork by children at Tillingbourne Junior School in Chilworth.
Earlier this year, I ran a workshop with a group of children from all the year groups at the school. We took as our inspiration all the beautiful nature around Chilworth Station, including the rich biodiversity of plants, trees, animals, birds and insects, at the Gunpowder Mills and nearby Blackheath. The project was funded by SCRP and supported by GWR.
The photo shows Mark from GWR; he works, together with Station Manager Andy Gallaugher, looking after all the stations on the North Downs Line. He manages many duties including looking after litter bins, ticket machines, and, more recently, installing vinyls.
