It was very distressing to learn of the derailment near our home station of Lewes. Our thoughts go to all the passengers and staff involved and their families. We owe a great deal to the emergency services who led people to safety and treated those who were injured. What has emerged from this incident is how those on board came to each other’s aid and how local people helped those affected with water, onward transport, and kindness. We understand the impact this has had on the railway family and local people and will do our best to support those affected.
