We’ve renamed ourselves because we’ve outgrown our original title!

The Sussex Community Rail Partnership, which works to connect local communities with their railway, will now be known as the Southeast Communities Rail Partnership.

Its chair, Tim Barkley, explained :- “We started with lines to Uckfield and East Grinstead, then added the Marshlink between Hastings and Ashford, so even then we had expanded beyond Sussex. We’ve since added the Arun Valley, the North Downs, Seaford to Brighton, Tonbridge to Reigate, Sussex Coast, and, very recently, Tonbridge to Hastings. So although we are still firmly rooted in Sussex, we also cover lines in Kent, Surrey, and Berkshire.  We pride ourselves on the close connection we have with the communities we serve, and it has felt slightly odd for a while to be talking about the Sussex Community Rail Partnership in Reading, Guildford, Tonbridge and Ashford!”

“But we didn’t want a complete rebrand, and by tweaking our name to Southeast Communities Rail Partnership we can still use ‘our’ initials, but acknowledge that we serve local communities in much more than Sussex. By retaining our initials and our familiar branding, it’s a no-cost improvement. We are simply updating our electronic details, such as our website and our printed material as it becomes necessary to replace it.  Our commitment to working with local communities in the southeast is unchanged, we’ve got the same great team working for us. The only difference is that our name is a much better reflection of what we do.”
