Conservation volunteering with the local Downlands Partnership
The Downlands Partnership, one of the three Surrey Countryside Partnerships, carries out management work on many glorious countryside sites across NE Surrey (Banstead, Caterham etc.) and neighbouring parts of Croydon and Sutton. The task days are essentially supported by conservation volunteers of all ages that enjoy helping with practical work in the great outdoors, come rain or shine! There are some great local scrub clearance tasks taking place during March which are ideal to try if you are new to conservation volunteering.
Scheduled tasks run across the partnership area on Mondays (Sanderstead to Whyteleafe Countryside Area), Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and some Sundays.
The Downlands Partnership would greatly welcome some new volunteers to come and join their happy crew! There is no fixed commitment, you can join in on any of the local dates that you fancy. We can accommodate and welcome larger corporate, community and school groups by special arrangement. Also voluntary work placements for people interested in a countryside management career.
