A new set of stamps to be issued by Royal Mail later this month will depict windmills and watermills from across the county.

Nutley Windmill overlooking Ashdown Forest has been chosen for the 1st Class stamp.  The grade II* listed building on Crowborough Road is the only working open-trestle post mill left in the country.  A huge amount of time and effort has gone into the restoration of Nutley Mill by the Uckfield and District Preservation Society, beginning in 1968, the year the group was founded.

Brian Pike, Chairman of the Society, said:  This stamp is a fabulous achievement and is very rewarding for the volunteers who have given their time to keep the mill open to the public.

Nutley windmill, a Grade II* listed building, constructed in the 16th century has been completely renovated by a dedicated team of volunteers. It is the oldest working mill in Sussex.  The stamps will be released on 20th June.
