The Southeast Communities Rail Partnership (SCRP) is taking part in a national awareness campaign to promote the benefits of Days Out by Rail coordinated by Community Rail Network.  Over the next few months we will be showcasing our places to visit page on this website. We want to encourage people to leave the car behind, make the most of our lovely region and travel responsibly. Please share our social media posts and help spread the word that days out are better by rail.

Chair of the SCRP, Tim Barkley, said:- “I have been very impressed at the efforts the train operating companies have made to ensure train travel is as safe as it can be. Trains and stations are regularly cleaned throughout the day, with frequent ‘deep cleaning’ too, and more carriages added to ensure that passengers are able to socially distance. As Southern says, you really can ‘travel with confidence’.

“The SCRP is showcasing places to visit and things to do along our eight community rail lines in the southeast. For exiting ideas visit  https://www.southeastcrp.org/places-to-visit-by-rail/ and check out Thameslink Guide at: https://www.scenicrailbritain.com/countrysidecapitalcoast

“This is a perfect opportunity to start planning how we can explore our beautiful region by train, leaving the car behind and maintaining good low carbon travel habits. Many of our splendid walking and cycling trails can be accessed by train and bus. There are lots of great deals for rail travel, especially if travelling with children or with friends”
