At Arundel station this morning, volunteers from Greening Arundel met up with volunteers from the Aldingbourne Trust, as they have a shared aim – to enhance the gardens and planters at Arundel station.
Laura Carroll from Arundel ticket office, Rowena Tyler from SCRP and all the volunteers – including Scout the dog, sporting a fetching neckerchief, took the opportunity to be part of Community Rail week and enjoyed a couple of group photos on the newly cleared path from the station to Arundel.
Another photo was taken by the Network Rail funded Arundel mural which is a welcome sight in the underpass, for visitors and residents arriving by train to Arundel.
Greening Arundel works under the auspices of Arundel Town Council, which has granted some extra funding to allow the Aldingbourne Trus planting and watering team to help with the newly created gardens. A water butt has been installed by Southern Rail maintenance team, and the bench outside the taxi office has been painted by staff there.
This is truly a great example of everyone pulling together to enhance Arundel station for the benefit of visitors and local people -and that is what Community Rail is all about!
