Ashford Museum is holding a special day to collect people’s memories of the railways in the town.

The ‘Railway Memories Collection Day’ is on Friday 22 November at Ashford Museum’s conservation annexe, 57 High Street, Ashford from 11am to 5pm.

The museum is asking people who worked for the railways, had family members who worked for the railways or want to share railway memories to attend the day.

There will be a public exhibition for all ages highlighting Ashford’s contribution to UK railways in 2025, marking 200 years of modern railways.

The exhibition – in pictures, words, artefacts and film – will showcase the surviving locomotives and rolling stock from Ashford Works’ 135 years history of design and manufacture supported by stories of the people who made it happen and the legacy impact on the town.

The exhibition will be free and run for a month from 31 March to 30 April 2025, coinciding with the Ashford Festival of Railway Modelling 2025 on 12/13 April. The exhibition will be curated in conjunction with Ashford Museum, Ashford Library and Tales from the Tracks.
