On Sunday the 26th May, the Tunbridge Wells Ramblers club enjoyed a linear walk from Etchingham to Stonegate.
The latest in a series of “Rail to Ramble” events was set up by Andy Pope, the 1066 line officer, to demonstrate alternative options to the normal circular routes such groups would undertake. The group met at Stonegate station and joined the train to take the 6 mile trip down to Etchingham, from here they walked back 7 miles through beautiful buttercup filled fields in bright sunshine. Stopping only at Burwash to enjoy lunch and the vista from one of the high points on the route.
One of the Ramblers commented that “it had been ages since she had been on a train and it was a wonderful way of opening up new walking routes.”
