Engine Driver in Feltham Marshalling Yard
Born in Wateringbury near Maidstone in 1900, to Bertha Bristow and her husband Thomas, a brewer’s labourer.
By the age of 20 Tom, as he was known, was working as an engine cleaner for South Eastern Railway. In Dartford in 1925 he
married the daughter of a Kent road contractor, her name was Elsie Madeline Gould, and by 1939 they’d had a child, possibly
Thelma, and were living on Cassiobury Avenue in Feltham. Tom was working as a locomotive fireman and later in Feltham
marshalling yard. He died in 1953, he was 53.
