The Sussex Community Rail Partnership (SCRP), the independent community interest company which works to connect communities and the railway across Sussex, Kent, Surrey and Berkshire, has been reaccredited by the Department for Transport (DfT).
Tim Barkley, chair of SCRP, said :- “I am really delighted at this news. Accreditation is formal recognition by the DfT that a community rail partnership operates to a high standard and that its objectives and activities are supported by government. It provides reassurance to our many partners and stakeholders that we are worthy of trust, are a suitable organisation to receive public funds, and that the government considers us a good representative of the local community.
“We are extremely proud of our small team, and volunteer directors, who have achieved so much over the last year, working with local communities across Sussex and beyond on our seven lines. Our reaccreditation is testament to their hard work.
“We live in particularly challenging times now, of course, but as we gently ease out of the Covid-19 lockdown our role has never been more important, or more vital. Our local public transport networks provide a lifeline for the communities they serve, and we are ready to work with our train operating company partners and our other stakeholders to ensure that we continue to connect our local communities with their railway.”
Katherine Cox, Partnerships & CSR Manager at Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) added :- “I am delighted that Sussex CRP has received re-accreditation from the Department for Transport. It has been earnt through their hard work and commitment to the local community. It confirms the strong relationship they have nurtured with railway and the local community, as well as their welcoming and inclusive approach to the people they serve.”
