Our station partners, Keep Lancing Lovely, continue to work hard at the station, as well as throughout the village, to enhance the area, and encourage people to learn about Lancing’s history.
Recently, Line Officer Rowena Tyler and Interim Station Manager, Rachel Holliday visited Lancing station, and were warmly welcomed by Keith Stainer, one of the Keep Lancing Lovely main volunteers.
Keith gave a tour of the recent work, showing how the pallets which are part of the garden project, are now adorned with red hearts – this was a suggestion from a little girl who was passing by and admiring the pallets. The hearts were installed in time for Valentine’s Day, and will stay for a little while longer.
Back in the bookings hall, Keith explained how the heritage project, a display of the old carriage works photographs and memorabilia was growing. Quite a few local people, on visiting the station, might remember they had a photograph at home, and the group had been given lots of donations to add to the display.
The station staff made a point of thanking Keith on behalf of all the volunteers, and told Rowena and Rachel how much they enjoyed seeing the station environment being brightened up in this way.
Keep Lancing Lovely are hoping to extend their village wide Water Refill’ initiative to the station, and have put in a request for water refill facilities to be made available for customers and passengers.
