At the end of February we saw the grand opening of Battle community hub. After several years of negotiations and a concerted effort in the last twelve months, the stars aligned with the authorities granted by all parties and funding coming together from Network Rail, South Eastern Railways, Railway Heritage Trust and Community Rail Network.
The ceremony was attended by numerous railway representatives and community groups. The ribbon was cut by Huw Merriman MP and speeches made by Lord Peter Hendy of Network Rail, Steve White MD or SER, Vikki Cook Leader of Battle Town Council and James Abbott chair of the 1066 Community Rail Line.
It is hoped that the building will become a community hub for small groups to meet and a valuable asset for the people of Battle.
