1. Eligibility
To be eligible, people entering the competition must be over 18 years old (participating adult) or the parent or legal guardian of the participating child.
The participating child must be aged under 18 on the closing date of 31 October 2025.
Entrants must:
have a UK postal address;
provide a valid email address;
warrant that the poem entered is an original work and no other person is the author of the entry;
provide parental / guardian consent for a child to enter.
2. Participation
To participate in this competition, all entrants:
must write a poem that adheres to the competition guidelines as advertised on the competition web page (ADD LINK);
must correctly complete all fields in the submission form to confirm entry;
Participating adults:
must provide consent for the child to participate;
grant, on behalf of the child, Rye Harbour Writers and Southeast Communities Rail Partnership with a licence to use the child’s entry in the manner set out in Section 4, if that entry is a winning entry or runner-up;
agrees to be bound by these terms.
3. Promotion and Winner Selection
If you satisfy the Eligibility Criteria set out in 1, and Participate as set out in 2, then entries must be submitted between the hours of 09:00 on Friday 1 August 2025 and 23:59 on Friday 31 October 2025.
Entries will be shortlisted by Rye Harbour Writers and Southeast Communities Rail Partnership.
4. The Prize
Each category winner and the two runners-up will have their submission displayed:
at Rye railway station;
on websites / social media operated by Southeast Communities Rail Partnership;
in media releases and publicity from Southeast Communities Rail Partnership.
Other Terms and Conditions
Only one entry per person. No purchase necessary.
The Prize is not transferable and, unless offered by the Promotor, there will be no substitutions, or cash alternatives of, for the Prize.
No expenses incurred in connection with entry to or participation in this Promotion will be paid.
The winning selections of the Promotor and Rye Harbour Writers are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
The Promotor shall be entitled to refuse to accept any entry.
All entries are subject to verification. Incomplete, bulk, automated and third party entries (including “voting exchange”) will be disqualified.
Failure to comply with these Terms will automatically render an entry void.
The Promotor does not accept any liability for any entries which are late, lost, incomplete or rendered.
The name of the winner and runners-up in each category will be included in the printed posters and in publicity material
Entrants consent to their personal data being used in this manner. Consent may be withdrawn at any time.
All personal data will be held and used by The Promotor in accordance with its Privacy Policy
The Promoter reserves the right to withdraw this offer or amend these Terms at any time without notice.
In the event of any dispute regarding the Terms, the Promotion itself or any other matter relating to, or arising out of, these Terms or the Promotion, the Promoter’s decision shall be final. No written correspondence or verbal discussion will be entered into.

This Promotion and these Terms are governed by the Laws of England and Wales and the Promoter and Participants agree that the Courts of England and Wales, exclusively, shall settle disputes.
