On 4th July 2025 as part of our Railway 200 celebrations, Wokingham Station welcomed invited guests and passengers to join its 176th birthday.

Wokingham station opened in 1849 and remains a busy hub for the community. To mark this occasion, an artwork was commissioned for permanent display and was unveiled to much acclaim on the day by a Learning Disability Partnership Board Champion, Lorna and The Town Council Mayor, Louise Timlin.

The artwork, led by artist Jo Werrett, was created in partnership with the Wokingham Learning Disability Partnership Board. It celebrates 200 years of railway travel and features individual pieces made by people of all abilities, brought together to form one larger piece. All agreed it will make a wonderful addition to the station.

South Western Railway funded this project through its Station Adoption Fund and it was a collaboration between Southeast Communities Rail Partnership Community Interest Company and the Wokingham Learning Disability Partnership Board.

The event concluded with the CLASP Choir singing a medley of songs outside the station in the summer sun to the delight of passers by.
