Pieces Fall Into Place at Arundel Station

A mosaic has been unveiled at Arundel station, in an event organised by the Sussex Community Rail Partnership.

The mosaic was made at a workshop held on 8th April 2015 at Arundel Museum, who are a station partner, and was made by the community of Arundel and visitors to the town. The first tiles were laid by the Aldingbourne Trust, who provide and water the plants at the station. It was designed by Bob Dorkings a Barnham train driver.

On Thursday 4th June the Mayor of Arundel, Cllr James Stewart, unveiled the mosaic in the booking hall of Arundel station.

Following the mosaic unveiling, a silver birch tree was planted in the station car park, donated by Martin Alderton, from Arundel Historic Tours, who has formed a new station partnership with Arundel.

“Veronica Payne, the Sussex Community Rail Partnership Officer responsible for the Arun Valley line, said :- “This was a great occasion, it’s so good to see the completed mosaic resplendent in the booking hall at Arundel. We are very lucky to have so many station partners at Arundel, and I am very grateful to them for their support.”
