The Southeast Communities Rail Partnership (SCRP), which works to link local communities with their railway, has welcomed the award of an MBE to one of its longstanding volunteer directors, Tim Sparrow.

Tim Barkley, SCRP chair, said :- “Tim has been a driving force for the SCRP since its inception over 20 years ago, and remains passionate about it. I am delighted that he has received this award. It is very much deserved.”

Tim Sparrow added :- “The development and success of the SCRP is entirely due to the hard work of its staff, directors, line chairs, partners and volunteers. I am accepting this award on their behalf.

“Now working with over 100 partners and 98 organisations across five train operating companies and 130 stations, our volunteers contribute nearly £600 000 in social value. Long may it continue. “
