The Stade is the home of the largest beach-based fishing fleet in UK. Only a couple of hundred yards from the town centre, the Stade has historic net drying sheds - unique tall wooden buildings - and the freshest local fish for sale. There's also a miniature railway and the East Cliff funicular lift, and a museum in the old seamen's church.

The Museum is at two locations. The 14th century Ypres Tower has good views over what was once the largest and most important harbour in the country. The main exhibition on Rye's history is at 3 East Street, including ever-so-high stilts used in hop picking, and Rye’s old fire engine complete with leather hoses and battered lead-lined water buckets.

The huge chimney of Shoreham Power Station at Shoreham Harbour can be seen from all along the Sussex coast and for miles out to sea in the English Channel. A thriving and hard-working port, the area around it is densely packed warehousing and industrial. Shoreham harbour has an attractive marina.

BOAT is a 425 capacity Open Air Theatre in Dyke Road Park, Hove, open in the summer months, and hosting a huge range of events including Theatre, Music, Comedy, Family, Circus and Special Events.
Cissbury Ring

Cissbury Ring

The hill fort of Cissbury Ring is over 6,000 years old, an ancient landmark on the South Downs. Used as a ritual burial ground during the early Bronze Age, then an Iron Age hill fort. In Tudor times Cissbury was part of an early-warning system of beacons that ran the length of the south coast, and an anti- aircraft station in the Second World War.
