The Friends of Shalford are trying to restore a former orchard which sits on common land adjacent to the station and have successfully applied to GWR’s Community Cohesion fund for a grant.
Chair of the group, Jan Chapman, was delighted to announce that GWR have agreed to fund the purchase of a rustic bench to be sited on the common land amongst wild flowers and meadow grass.
The picture shows some of the tree work and restoration already completed though there is still much to do !
