Dates have been announced for seed swap events in Lewes and Brighton in 2024.
Seedy Saturday Lewes takes place on Saturday 3 February at Lewes Town Hall from 10am to 3pm.
The organisers say: “We already have lots of great speakers, workshops and stalls lined up including Hannah Fox of Marchants Hardy Plants, Lesley Healey and Helen Sida on Wildlife Friendly Food Growing, Christiane Gunzi making willow plant supports, tool sharpening workshops with Peter May, the Big Lewes Seed Swap, independent merchants selling seeds, plants, garden supports, and beautifully refurbished tools, and delicious food by Seven Sisters Spices and Hamsey primary school PTA.”
Seedy Sunday is the following day at Brighton Open Market, Marshalls Row, London Road, Brighton BN1 4JU from 9am to 4.30pm.
The organisers commented: “We’re planning all the delights of Seedy Sunday with the seed swap at the heart of the matter. Once again we’re being sponsored generously by Infinity Foods Cooperative and The Open Market is supporting us too, so Seedy Sunday will be free entry this year.
“If you haven’t got seeds to swap, don’t worry. We’ll have a range of open-pollinated seeds donated by local growers and bought in from reputable suppliers, yours for a donation of 50p per packet. So whether it’s veg, or herbs, or flowers you want to sow and grow, there’ll be something for you. There’ll be stalls selling plants and food and we’ll have speakers on all sorts of growing related topics.”
