Sarah Broadbent, chair of 1066 Country Marketing and vice-chair of Rye chamber of commerce, has been elected vice-chair of the Marshlink community rail partnership.
Her appointment was confirmed by the Marshlink steering group at its meeting at Rye town hall last Friday (14 November).
Sarah said: “I’m delighted to be joining the Marshlink community rail partnership as vice-chair and look forward to working with the community.
“I am passionate about joining the dots in the community, and I feel that having a presence on the group here will help consolidate the work that I already do with 1066 and with Rye Chamber.”
Kevin Boorman, chair of the Marshlink community rail partnership, commented: “I’m very happy to be working with Sarah. I’ve known her for many years. She’s passionate about the area, she’s passionate about tourism, she’s passionate about the environment. She’s a perfect fit for the line.”
Sarah replaces former Ashford borough councillor Mick Burgess who died in February. He had been Marshlink vice-chair for five years and a member of the community rail partnership for more than 10 years.
Network Rail gave a presentation at the Marshlink meeting with photos of the recent work around the Hastings and St Leonards area and on the Hastings to Tonbridge line.
