At their recent AGM in Bishopstone parish hall The Friends of Bishopstone Station showcased the plans drawn up by local architects Baker Brown to redevelop what was ‘Linda’s Store’ in part of the main building into a bookable community hub available to local groups. Through the work of the GTR Passenger Benefit Fund its hoped that plans can begin work later in the year. The Friends of Bishopstone Station have worked for the last four years to redevelop and restore the station and this will be Phase I of a long term plan to restore the station to its former glory assisted by The Railway Heritage Trust, Community Rail Network and Network Rail.
Visitors to the hub will be asked to arrive sustainably by rail, bus, foot or bike as there will be no parking at the venue. The proposed space will be available on a donations basis to go towards the upkeep of the space and will be an open plan area with kitchen and toilets only available to those booking the venue.
The Friends of Bishopstone are holding their next fundraising event as a Quiz Night at The View, Seaford Head Golf Course Wednesday 18th August 7-10pm. Suggested donations of £1 entry and £1 per quiz round. To register your interest contact friendsofbishopstonestation@yahoo.com or call 07501672424
