Ditch the Slippers
Each issue, we highlight the work of one 3VA member in what is an amazingly diverse membership of over 550 groups and organisations working across Wealden, Eastbourne and Lewes District. This week it is the turn of Ditch the Slippers.
Ditch the Slippers is a community group in North Wealden that provides facilities and activities targeted at people who have reached sixty five years of age and who have mental health difficulties or who are vulnerable/lonely because of social isolation within the community. The group supports and encourages clients to be active in the wider community wherever possible and provides a variety of activities that are stimulating, interesting, and fun and contribute to the physical and mental well-being of older people in the local community. Ditch the Slippers currently provides four activities each week run entirely by volunteers:
- Games, mostly Skittles and Boccia. The group meets on Monday mornings at All Saints Church from 10.15 to 11.45 in Crowborough.
- Yoga/Movement to Music on Tuesday mornings in Uckfield
- Craft on Wednesday afternoons in Uckfield
- Singing on Thursday mornings in Crowborough
