Other attendees were the Town Mayor, Cllr Adam Peacock and representatives of the Town Council, Disability Access in East Grinstead the local accessibility action group, Network Rail who are responsible for the construction and Southern/GTR’s management team.  And of course Community Rail was represented!

Bluebell Railway pulled out all the stops by bringing an historic steam train onto the station and hosting the catering.  The band ‘Men in Hats’ provided some musical entertainment and collecting donations for the Samaritains.  The local museum contributed with an historic display and model of the old stations.

It was a great event, busy and well attended by lots of happy smiling people.

Well done East Grinstead and welcome to all the travellers who will now be able to navigate the station with ease.
