On a cold and frosty January morning, GTR Southern executives and local mayors, along with Nick Gibb, the local MP, came to Bognor Regis station to view the renovations which have been undertaken as part of a £2.5m collaboration project (for more informaton on the project and the partners involved, visit https://www.mynewsdesk.com/uk/govia-thameslink-railway/pressreleases/dignitaries-celebrate-ps2-dot-5m-makeover-of-bognor-regis-station-2385774
The visitors to Bognor were welcomed and entertained by the music team from the Aldingbourne Trust, who gave a rousing rendition of ‘I do like to be beside the seaside’ followed by a pom-pom dance encouraging commuters and staff to ‘do the locomotion’. They were rewarded with tea and cakes for everyone.
Sussex directors Tim Sparrow and Tim Barkley accompanied Arun Valley line Officer Rowena Tyler, and all agreed that when the new resource centre, café and ‘hub’ are occupied, Bognor Regist station will be a thriving and exciting place to come and do business. Outside the station environment has been cleaned up beautifully, with the fascia gleaming in the winter sun, and the seating, with its art deco images of seaside attractions being used by local shoppers.
Bognor Regis is a spur station at the southern end of the Arun Valley Line, and with Hotham Park, the pier, the beach, and of course, Butlin’s Holiday Park, is well worth a visit at any time of the year.
