Cissbury Ring

The hill fort of Cissbury Ring is over 6,000 years old, an ancient landmark on the South Downs. Used as a ritual burial ground during the early Bronze Age, then an Iron Age hill fort. In Tudor times Cissbury was part of an early-warning system of beacons that ran the length of the south coast, and an anti- aircraft station in the Second World War.
