Uckfield & East Grinstead lines and Tonbridge, Redhill & Reigate steering groups
On 29 September SCRP held an annual joint lines steering group meeting, plus thank you event for all the volunteer members who join us throughout the year at the regular meetings.
The meeting was well attended by the local community, voluntary organisations and staff from the rail industry.
There was a good mix of community and industry presentations;
Bev Pashley, Artytime gave an interesting talk on the existing projects she works on and her plans for the Crowborough Community Hub, listing other community organisations who are looking forward to being able to share the much needed space to bring their services to the Jarvis Brook area of Crowborough.
Michael Beach, East Surrey Arts Society spoke about existing and future planned installations around the network and the society and its aims.
Sharon Gray, Community Rail Development Officer reported on some of the past year’s successful projects and some which are in the pipeline for the coming months.
Patrick Ladbury, GTR Stakeholder Manager reported on some recent and future initiatives and the relationship between GTR and SCRP.
William Knighton, Network Rail Senior Public Affairs Mgr spoke on several Network Rail projects and announced the exciting news that the railway industry will be celebrating 200 years of the railways in 2025. For more information on Railway 200, visit www.Railway200.co.uk
Both Tim Barkley, Chair of the Tonbridge, Redhill, Reigate CR line and Paul Goddard, Chair of the Uckfield & East Grinstead CR lines supported the meeting, Tim is further Chair of SCRP (see photo).
We used the very smart Eden Centre in Edenbridge as the venue as it is well placed and easily accessed from both of the Edenbridge stations, and a delicious thank you buffet lunch was provided by local company Eden Bakes.
