Things to do

On 12th May 2025, we celebrated the birthday of Winnersh Triangle Station which was opened on 12th May 1986.

In 1848 the Southeastern Railway opened the stretch of railway between Reading and Wokingham that eventually joined with other railway lines to form a continuous link from Reading to London Waterloo.

On 1st January 1910 the Southeastern and Chatham Railway opened the Sindlesham and Hurst Halt, renamed Winnersh in 1969,  near the crossroads at Winnersh that until this time was a sleepy backwater.  Winnersh rapidly developed with houses being built around the crossroads and later shops, until it became recognisable as the community we know today.

Over the following decades Winnersh continued to expand and in the early 80’s there were further large housing developments at nearby Lower Earley and Woodley. The Winnersh Triangle Business Park also was being developed. It was decided that another station was required between Earley and Winnersh to cater for the increased passengers.

Today Winnersh Triangle station is a thriving and busy station catering not only for the local residents but also the Business Park which is home to a vibrant working community.

With thanks to Winnersh Parish Council, Winnersh Triangle Business Park, Danny Coope, South Western Railway and all the guests that made this such an enjoyable day.
