Community Rail representatives have taken part in a wreath-laying ceremony at Brighton railway station to pay tribute to war veterans.
Cllr Stephen Catlin, the interim chair of the Seaford to Brighton line steering group and current Mayor of Lewes, laid a wreath at the ‘Silent Soldier’ silhouette on the concourse.
The event was part of the national ‘Routes of Remembrance’ campaign to lay poppies at railway stations to honour the fallen.
Southern Rail staff also laid a wreath as did the grandson of a captain severely injured during World War I.
The wreaths will remain at Brighton station for the official Remembrance Day event on 11 November.
