I was delighted to be able to spend the day volunteering at a Winter Warmers pop-up shop at Reading station on Friday 10th February. This great initiative helps reuse and recycle unwanted items, keeping vulnerable people warm this winter.
Located in a spare retail unit at Reading station, members of the public generously donated quality winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves and clothing which were then available for free collection for those who are most in need.
We received amazing feedback from passers-by and recipients and even had the British Transport Police come and help out.
This initiative is a partnership between Great Western Railway, Network Rail, Reading Borough Council and Southeast Communities Rail Partnership. Thank you to all our volunteers and Lucy Lomax, Hampshire Community Rail who organised the event.
