Things to do

I enjoyed a truly educational day at South Western Railway head quarters in London for defibrillator training.

South Western Railway have committed to installing defibrillator machines at every one of their staffed stations. The British Heart Foundation (BHF) estimates that there are around 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests every year in the United Kingdom, and tragically just 1 in 10 people survive. We learnt that during a cardiac arrest, every minute counts. The use of CPR and defibrillators can double the chances of survival.

We learnt how to identify a cardiac arrest, to operate a defibrillator and perform effective CRP. I came away with a solid overview of how I could help in a possible emergency.
