On Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September, Gaugemaster Model Railways held a free event with model railway enthusiasts displaying their layouts across land at the Engine Shed, right next to Ford Station.
Visitors to the area, collectors of model railway kit, and families all mingled in the two gazebos, or outside to enjoy a snack and a drink, while looking at the larger layouts.
Sussex CRP was pleased to have a table at the event, close enough to the station to hear the real and working trains as they stopped at Ford on their way through the Arun Valley Line.
Our table was manned by members of the Arun Valley Line Group, and with help from volunteers from Railfuture and ACoRP, we were able to talk to over 250 people across the two days.
The Gaugemaster team worked tirelessly to ensure this was an excellent day for everyone – and the weather certainly helped!
The Engine Shed is a station partner, having adopted Ford station this summer. We are looking forward to working with them to enhance Ford Station and encourage people to travel by train across the Arun Valley Line, and particularly when visiting the Engine Shed.
