Great Northern, Southern and Thameslink have announced they will shortly have publicly-accessible, life-saving automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at every one of their 238 stations the largest roll-out of heart restarters on the UK’s rail network.
At Three Bridges railway station on Thursday, Southern Rail staff were joined by Henry Smith, MP for Crawley, and given a lesson in using the new defibrillator pack by Malcom Legg of SECAmb and Sue Hampshire, Director of Clinical & Service Development at Resuscitation Council UK,
Three Bridges Station Partner, Brenda Burgess volunteered to ‘have a go’ under instruction and was impressed by the simplicity of the defibrillator, which takes the user through a series of prompts and instructions.
