Line Group members, station partners and other volunteers from the Arun Valley Line and the Sussex Coast Line came together at Chichester Canal for a day out and a chance to mix and share Community Rail stories. This was billed as a ‘Thank you’ event, to celebrate the work of volunteers and supportive partners, which has helped to keep local stations bright and welcoming places to visit.
Chichester Canal Trust Centre staff and volunteers prepared a wonderful afternoon tea for everyone, including cream teas, sandwiches, cakes and drinks, with each person receiving a personalised snack bag to either take with them on the boat, or eat at one of the café tables, overlooking the canal basin.
The boat, Kingfisher, ran two tour trips, each lasting an hour and fifteen minutes. The sun shone brightly and the sky was blue all day long.
Everyone enjoyed the day out, and Rowena Tyler, Line Officer for both lines thanked SCRP directors for approving the budget which made this day possible.
