Station Partners at Lancing, the Keep Lancing Lovely Group, are passionate about reducing litter, at the station and throughout the village.
One of the group’s members, Wendy Peters, has found a way to use discarded plastic bottles, by making them into ‘poppies’ complete with painted back centres. For the station, she has created a beautiful installation to commemorate the start of the Second World War to today: 1939-2019 80 years ago, a poppy for each year.
If anyone would like to know more about how to make these poppies, Wendy would be happy to give guidance. This picture has been sent to GTR Environmental Group, and Sam Lear, GTR Environmental Specialist said:
“I have shared it with our environmental volunteers. It’s a great project, hope it is taken up by others too.”
The Keep Lancing Lovely Group will also be holding a Remembrance Event, on Sunday 9th November, at 10.00am at Lancing Station. All are welcome to attend.
