New maps are to be sited at five stations on the North Downs Line which will point visitors to the North Downs Way. These maps show the local area, attractions and sites near to the station and the full route of the North Downs Way, highlighting the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Just one section of the map is illustrated here. The maps were designed and installed in a partnership between SCRP, Surrey Hills AONB, the North Downs Way, Surrey County Council and Great Western Railway.

To celebrate the unveiling of the new signs and maps, SCRP Line Officer David Daniels will be leading a walk of about 6km on Wednesday 31st October, from Shalford station to Chilworth station via footpaths and bridleways along the North Downs Way. We’ll visit St Martha’s Church, Chilworth Manor and the Gunpowder Mills on our way.

The official unveiling of the new signs by Mike Goodman of Surrey CC (Chair of the North Downs Line Community Rail Partnership) will take place at Chilworth  Station.

The signs will be sited at Shalford, Chilworth, Gomshall, Dorking Deepdene (both sides) and Betchworth.
