A Men in Sheds club could be coming to Uckfield if there is enough local support.

Men in Sheds is a fabulous organisation who provide a social meeting place for men, help battle isolation, pass on skills  and do some fabulous work for their local communities.  They have worked with us on several projects for local communities.

It would be a place where men could “pursue practical interests at leisure, practice skills, and enjoy making and mending”.

An open meeting is to be held in the function room at The Alma Arms, in Framfield Road, on Wednesday, August 21, at 1.30pm, for those who would like to be involved.

Solitary

A press release says that while garden sheds and activities in them are often solitary in nature Men’s Sheds are the opposite. They are about social connections and friendship building, sharing skills and knowledge, and laughter.

There is no need to book to attend the meeting, just turn up. If anyone is interested in the Men Shed but cannot attend the open meeting then they are invited to email Chris Sherwood or Margaret Dode-Angel for more information.

Wellbeing

Their email addresses are sherwoodc@rocketmail.com, or victoriapavilion@gmail.com.

Margaret, founder and director of Sussex Support Service said: “I am excited to support the start of any new project that helps with the general wellbeing of our community.

“The men shed is an ideal opportunity for men to come together.”
