As part of the Young Cultural Changemakers Programme,  a series of creative workshops led to a mural design created by students at the West Sussex Alternative Provision College.  The project was led by Beccy East of the youth charity, Artswork.

The programme was intended to encourage young people to make a positive, creative change within their community.  This exhibition comprises the permanent mural outside the station, and a temporary poster display in the waiting rooms, platforms and ticket office.  It reflects the participants’ feelings about Littlehampton, and the risks and challenges of being a young person not in mainstream education.

At an ‘unveiling’ ceremony at the station,  a ribbon was cut.  The event was  attended by Littlehampton Town Councillors ,  the Town Clerk and the Community Resources Officer,  community artists involved in the project,  Leanne and Beccy from Artswork,  and Rowena Tyler, SCRP Line Officer for the Sussex Coast.

The group then went into the station waiting room to chat to the young artists involved in the project,  whilst partaking of refreshments.

One of the artists, Cai, pictured here was congratulated many times over on her unique interpretation resulting in a thought-provoking and eye-catching piece of art.
