Some time ago, members of the Horsham Town Community Partnership (HTCP) began to enquire if they could take over the bus information board, situated outside the railway station, to help visitors to the area work out which bus to take to outlying parts of Horsham.

The group had no idea how to begin to get permission for this, or who to ask.  Fortunately, someone suggested SCRP might be able to help, as, through the Arun Valley Line Group, we have representation of all the right people.  Sure enough, once the Line Officer, Rowena Tyler was made aware of the request, she was happy to liaise between the relevant parties – West Sussex County Council, Metrobus, and HTCP.

This week, David Searle and John White, from HTCP met Lewis Jackson from Brighton & Hove buses/Metrobus and Bob Lanzer, WSCC Cabinet Member, and also Arun Valley Line Group Chairman.  David and John showed the colour-coded bus map which they have created, which is easy to understand, and can be used in conjunction with a destination and bus number list, both now  displayed inside the information board.  On the other side of the information board are signs, clearly indicating the bus stop numbers at the station for onward travel.

David Seale said: “We have been trying for several months to find out who owns the Bus Information Board at Horsham Railway Station to exhibit our Horsham Town, Bus Map. After making contact with Rowena Tyler, SCRP Community Development Officer the mystery started to unfold and we have now displayed the map. Many thanks Rowena.”
