HerStory Of Rye is an ongoing visual and oral project initiated by Susan Benn and Bronwen Griffiths to celebrate women who work or have worked in Rye and the surrounding area. The project has also included Year 10 students from Rye College who have helped with interviews to celebrate women’s working lives throughout the Rye community. The students have been trained how to actively listen and interview, to accurately record the testimonies of a range of women. There will be a display starting this week at Rye Heritage Centre which is being funded through the Heritage Lottery scheme. There are many more of the stunning black&white portraits going up all around the town.  Jenny Thomas at Southern, who actually used to work at Rye Ticket Office for many years, was on hand to help with the installation. Luckily it was not too windy and the rain held off; smiles all round!
