Pupils from the Weald Secondary School recently designed and built some attractive planter troughs to replace the old and rather dilapidated plastic ones. As the existing ones housed colourful displays of flowers, planted by the Aldingbourne Trust planting Team, it was agreed that the new wooden ones should be ‘sleeves’ to disguise the plastic ones. This means that the flowers will not suffer by being transplanted and in the autumn the Green Weald team and the Aldingbourne Trust will get together to plan and plant at Billinghurst station.
The pupils did this work on their last day of term before breaking up for summer – and in temperatures reaching 30 degrees. Luckily they had plenty of water and shady areas to cool off in.
Thank you, Green Weald Team!
