On Wednesday 13th July Andy Harrowell, Southern/GTR’s Corporate Responsibility Manager paid a visit to the Uckfield & East Grinstead lines. He wanted to see for himself all the completed and on-going projects we are working on both at the stations and with the local communities.
One of his tasks was to officially welcome our newest station partners – Brighter Uckfield. This group is entirely made up from volunteers from Uckfield with the aim of keeping their town looking at its best, which of course includes the station. The group have planted out some wonderful flower beds, take on cleaning tasks, litter pick and generally work to make Uckfield brighter.
During the course of his visit Andy was shown the Spa Valley Heritage Railway at Eridge, where he met some of their volunteers. Hurst Green station which amongst other projects is becoming increasingly well known for its art displays. And East Grinstead station, which had just been entered for the national ‘In Bloom’ competition.
