Things to do

On Thursday 4th June, during Community Rail week, Line Officer Rowena Tyler, Ellen Kendrick from Horsham District Council and Harriet Coombs from Arun District Council were invited to have a table at Gatwick Airport’s Staff Sustainable Travel event at the airport.

Staff from various departments, ranging from Border Force to Market Research and everything in between came to the event, and several were extremely interested in the Arun Valley Line podcasts, film trailers and Sonnet the Skylark activity pack.

Both the local authorities had donated prizes for a free raffle, giving a generous total of 8 vouchers to local venues or activities.  GTR also donated a family rail ticket (2 adults and 3 children) to be used anywhere on their network.  Loukas Ioannou, Surface Access Manager and his team, who organised the event, drew the winning tickets out of the box, and winners have been informed.

Rowena commented: “This was a marvellous opportunity to engage with not only staff from Gatwick Airport, but also other stallholders, such as Metrobus, National Express Coaches and Gatwick Airport Railway Station Management.

We have a lot of actions and contacts to build on over the next few months, and are looking forward already to next year’s event.”
