Things to do

A new series of podcasts is now available, showcasing 6 stations within Arun District.

Each podcast episode explores the character of the local community and introduces listeners to nearby attractions, scenic walks, cultural heritage and community groups accessible from the station. Railway staff also feature, talking about how the station can be a real part of the local community.

The stations and areas featured are  Arundel; Ford; Barnham; Bognor Regis; Littlehampton and Angmering

This series follows on from  last year’s ‘The Arun Valley Line – Beyond the Rails’ which was shortlisted in the Community Rail Network Awards 2026, Tourism and Leisure Category. Arun Valley Line -Beyond the Rails podcasts and films go live! | Southeast Communities Rail Partnership

To celebrate the continuing success of this project, Southeast Communities Rail Partnership secured funding from the Community Rail Network to produce a downloadable children’s activity pack.  It features Sonnet the Skylark, who leads young explorers on a railway mystery adventure. Through puzzles, clues and activities, children can solve the mystery while travelling by train along the line—or complete the activities at home, in classrooms or in community groups.

Both series one and two were produced by Whistlestoparts.org with funding from the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund, Horsham District Council and Arun District Council

All the podcasts are available through usual podcast channels or Whistlestoparts.org  where the adventures of Sonnet the Skylark activity pack can also be downloaded.
