To finish off an exciting Community Rail week across the West Coastway Southern Rail network, station partners Arundel Town Council and Greening Arundel Volunteering Group hosted a picnic at Arundel Station.  Volunteers who have worked hard to make the vegetation areas at the station accessible and pleasant, were treated to goodies from Junipers of Arundel, and Mayor, Tony Hunt came along to thank the group for everything they do, at the station, and also across the town.

GTR Social Media manager, Cal Marius dropped in, on his way to film other activities on the line, and conducted an interview with Katrina Murray and Carole Beatty, two of the leaders of the Green Team, the group which concentrates on enhancing Arundel Station garden areas.  The film can be viewed here: (13) Video | Facebook

Stephen MacCallaugh, Head of Stations for Southern, said: “Our station partners and station adopters are a vital part of our business. They help to look after stations and make them inviting spaces for the local community. We are hugely thankful to the Green Team, The Aldingbourne Trust and Arundel Town Council who, along with local people, gave up their time to make the station more environmentally friendly by planting wildflowers and pollinator-friendly perennials, as well as installing a water butt. We’re pleased to have provided further funding for a picnic table that can be enjoyed by the community this summer.”
