Estimates of station usage
The Office of Road and Rail publishes estimates of the total numbers of people entering, exiting and changing at each station in Great Britain. Data is available by year, by region or by station. This is the official data used by Department for Transport for investment and strategic planning.

National Rail Passenger Surveys
Transport Focus carries out National Rail Passenger Surveys twice a year, seeking passenger views about station access, fares and ticketing, and accessibility. Each wave surveys approximately 25,000 passengers and the results are taken very seriously by train companies and the Dept for Transport. Currently, Transport Focus portal contains data for bus and tram passenger surveys, and the rail passenger survey data for a full 18 years will be available from September 2019.

Station buildings blueprints
Blueprints for station buildings as originally constructed are available from Network Rail’s online archive shop. You can write and ask for other stations to be added if you need the plans for a project. Plans can be bought as a good quality digital download. Look for the text “Licensing options also available”.
